COLUMBIA, Mo., November 6, 2012… U.S. Cellular (NYSE: USM) is pleased to announce it will be entering the Springfield community with its first store set to open in late-November. Whether you prefer to call and text or you are a technology enthusiast who wants all the bells and whistles of a power-packed smartphone, U.S. Cellular encourages customers to visit its newest location at 3825 South Glenstone Avenue.
The 3,000-square-foot store will be the largest of the wireless carrier’s 76 stores in the Missouri market. The store will initially employ 8 associates in the growing community, while longer-term plans call for U.S. Cellular’s operations in the Springfield area to support a total of 20-25 jobs ranging from retail wireless consultants to engineering professionals.
When customers enter the new store, they can speak with an associate about the many benefits of being a U.S. Cellular customer, such as new devices faster without resigning contracts and the only points-based reward program in wireless.
“At U.S. Cellular we treat our customers like neighbors not numbers and our stores are designed with them in mind,” said Nathan Waddell, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Missouri. “We are committed to delivering products and services that simplify and enhance our customers’ daily lives, and our associates are always eager to help.”
The location provides a comfortable environment for associates to help customers choose the best plans and phones for their needs. Customers will be guided through the advanced features and functions on their new devices that keep them organized and enhance their lives. There is also an expanded service center with an on-site technician and additional work stations. The store also features product information displays and interactive phone demonstration stations.
Customers can test out U.S. Cellular’s cutting-edge devices that include the Samsung Galaxy S® III™ and other Android™-powered, Windows™ Phone and BlackBerry® devices. Customers will enjoy faster web browsing and quick app downloads with access to U.S. Cellular’s high-speed nationwide network, which has been further enhanced in Springfield and the surrounding communities with the recent addition of new cell sites in Springfield and the Sparta area. The newest sites are two of more than 800 sites U.S. Cellular has built across the state.
A recent survey conducted by U.S. Cellular uncovered that 44 percent of individuals in Missouri are in the “seven year itch” phase with their wireless provider, noting they are comfortable but suspect they are missing out on something better. “We believe it’s time for consumers to know they don’t have to settle with their wireless relationship and we’re encouraging them to stop by to learn why U.S. Cellular customers are the most satisfied in wireless,” said Waddell.
The store hours will be from 10 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday and 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday. Beginning December 21 the store will offer free device workshops from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. every third Friday and Saturday of the month where Springfield area residents can learn more about the features, tips and tricks of a specific device – or even stop by to decide if a smartphone or tablet is right for your needs.
