ST. LOUIS, MO., Feb. 5, 2013 … During the winter months, it can be hard for kids to get the recommended 60 minutes of active play per day. To help combat this, the Delta Dental Health Theatre is teaming up with Vetta Sports Soccerdome, located at 220 East Avenue in Webster Groves, to sponsor Open Bounce Nights each Friday in February from 5- 8 p.m. The cost is $5 for members and $7 for non-members. For those who mention the theatre upon arrival, the total price of their admission will benefit the work of the Delta Dental Health Theatre.
“Exercise is a key component of a healthy lifestyle,” commented Shannon Woodcock, executive director of the Delta Dental Health Theatre. “Identifying non-traditional means for increasing one’s heart-rate, like jumping in inflatables, teaches children that fitness can also be fun. We encourage area families to make plans to attend the upcoming Open Bounce Nights at Vetta Sports Soccerdome in Webster Groves on February, 8, 15 and 22.”
The Delta Dental Health Theatre is located on Laclede’s Landing in downtown St. Louis at 727 North First Street. Guests are entertained by the regularly scheduled “YouCan Toucan,” show co-hosted by an educator and an animatronic, talking bird that inspires children and families to take care of their smiles and adopt a healthy lifestyle. Kids can also explore interactive play exhibits, review the resources available in the Cardinals Care Healthy Library and exercise in an open space using kid-sized exercise equipment. Admission is $1 per person and includes a Healthy Smiles Kit with a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss and a timer.
The Delta Dental Health Theatre is open from Wednesday thru Saturday and Monday and Tuesday by appointment. More than 12,000 children visit the theatre annually, underscoring the important role it plays in educating area youth. The Delta Dental Health Theatre was originally organized as a program under the Foundation of the Greater St. Louis Dental Society in 1977. In 2002, it was incorporated as an independent 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization. Seven years ago, Delta Dental of Missouri became a major corporate sponsor supporting the theatre’s mission to improve the overall oral health and healthy habits of children and families. The theatre is located on Laclede’s Landing in the same building as the Old Spaghetti Factory.
