Employees of North Kansas City Hospital are now eligible for a 5 percent discount on tuition under a new partnership with WGU Missouri. The partnership discount will apply to any of WGU Missouri’s 60+ degree programs in healthcare, business, information technology and education.
Under the terms of the agreement, North Kansas City Hospital employees can receive a tuition discount for their first four terms while pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree at WGU Missouri. The 5 percent discount reduces WGU Missouri’s already-low tuition, which is about $3,500 per six-month term for most programs. North Kansas City Hospital employees will also be eligible to apply for the WGU Healthcare Partners Fund Scholarship, which is valued at up to $2,500.
“We’re proud to be partnering with North Kansas City Hospital to make affordable, high-quality higher education more accessible to working adults in the region,” said Dr. Angie Besendorfer, Chancellor of WGU Missouri. “WGU Missouri’s flexible, self-paced model will provide an avenue for employees to further their education while working fulltime and juggling their busy schedules.”
WGU Missouri’s online, competency-based learning model allows students to learn at their own pace. Without the set schedule of traditional schooling, students can pursue a degree while still tending to their career and family obligations. They can also move quickly through material they already know so they can focus on what they still need to learn. As a result, many students accelerate their time to degree completion, with it taking less than three years to earn a bachelor’s degree, on average.
