Future Swings 14u Travel Softball Team in Jacksonville has received $476 for travel and equipment expenses through U.S. Cellular’s Community Connections, a program that provides sponsorship support to help youth groups pay for expenses such as travel, equipment and uniforms. Future Swings signed up on U.S. Cellular’s website, and within 14 days rallied their friends, families and supporters to complete online activities that earned them the money.
“Groups like Future Swings provide invaluable experiences for youth in our community, and our Community Connections program was designed with them in mind, said Nakeita Stewart, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Illinois. “We are happy to contribute to their work, and it’s great to see the community’s support to help them have a positive impact in Jacksonville.”
Since launching the program in 2015, U.S. Cellular has awarded more than $1.3 million to nearly 2,900 groups, including traveling sports teams, STEM programs, school marching bands and dance squads.
