Casino Queen today announced that out of an abundance of caution, and in response to direction received from the Illinois Gaming Board (“IGB”), Casino Queen East St Louis will close temporarily to the public at midnight on Sunday night, March 15, 2020. The temporary closure, which impacts the gaming operation and restaurants, is expected to be 14 days, although upon reassessment the casino could possibly open sooner. The adjacent hotel will also close for the same time period at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 16.
“We sincerely regret any inconvenience to our customers,” said Mitch Johnson, General Manager of the Casino Queen. “At this time, we have no reported cases of COVID-19 virus at the property. However, the State’s efforts to slow down the virus are of paramount importance. We believe this proactive approach to implementing social distancing measures is a necessary step to help ensure the health and safety of our employees, customers, and all the great people of our community.”
During the closure, Casino Queen will work diligently to implement additional protective measures for its customers upon re-opening. The organization also will continue to move forward with other guest related projects that are already in motion.
Along with the Gaming Board, Casino Queen will be closely monitoring information from the Centers for Disease Control and the Illinois Department of Public health and will notify the public of any changes to the timing of the temporary closure should the situation change. Any changes will be posted to the Casino Queen’s website at www.casinoqueen.com and shared via the casino’s social channels.
