3/19/18 – February 5th Declared WGU Missouri Day in Jefferson City

Missouri’s General Assembly issued proclamations declaring Monday, February 5, 2018, as “WGU Missouri Day” in Jefferson City as part of the ongoing celebrations marking WGU Missouri’s 5th anniversary. Two proclamations from the Missouri Senate and Missouri House of Representatives were presented to WGU Missouri Chancellor Dr. Angie Besendorfer in commemoration of the occasion.

The proclamations were issued in recognition of WGU Missouri’s tremendous accomplishments during its first five years. WGU Missouri was created as Missouri’s only state-endorsed, nonprofit, fully online university by former Gov. Jay Nixon in February 2013 to expand affordable, high-quality education to residents across the state. Over the past five years, WGU Missouri has grown to include 2,714 currently enrolled students, 1,858 graduates and 159 staff members throughout Missouri, and has also awarded over $1 million in scholarships.

In honor of its 5th anniversary, WGU Missouri will be awarding $5,000 scholarships this year to as many as 100 new students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Applications for the WGU Missouri 5th Anniversary Celebration Scholarship are being accepted through June 29 and can be completed at missouri.wgu.edu/5th.
