6/6/19 – Community Living to Battle it Out Behind the Bar Against First Responders at the Big Kahuna Bartender Challenge

St. Charles County First Responders are busy perfecting their bartending skills in preparation for the Big Kahuna Bartender Challenge. The popular event will once again give Community Living’s Board of Directors, combined this year with Community Living Staff, the chance to defend their title by battling it out behind the bar against the First Responder team comprised of St. Charles County Ambulance District and Central County Fire & Rescue to raise funds for individuals with disabilities in St. Charles County. The team that earns the most money in tips during the event will earn the coveted “Big Kahuna” title and bragging rights for the year. Area residents are invited to come out and cheer on their favorite team during the event, which will take place on Tuesday, June 25, from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. at Gettemeier’s – St. Peters, located at 269 Salt Lick Road.

Members of each team will work behind the bar, showing off their skills and mingling with guests to earn the most tips and generate the most money overall during their allotted hour and a half time slot. Teams will also be raising money by selling 50/50 and prize raffle tickets before and during the event. The winning tickets will be pulled at the event and displayed on Community Living’s website and Facebook page.

“This is truly one of Community Living’s most exciting and unique events,” said Barb Griffith, President and CEO of Community Living, Inc. “The stakes are high and there’s a title to defend! We encourage area residents to bring their families to Gettemeier’s – St. Peters for an awesome night of great food, fun and entertainment for a great cause.”

All proceeds from the event, including tips and a $5 cover charge, will benefit Community Living’s programs and services for people with disabilities in St. Charles County. To date, the event, which has been held since 2003, has raised over $178,000.
