12/13/22 – UScellular Delivers $5,000 Nourishing Connections Donation To Springfield Community Gardens

The holidays are about connecting with friends and family, and UScellular is nourishing these connections by enabling communities to share a meal with the ones they love.

On Monday, Dec. 12, UScellular delivered a $5,000 donation to the Springfield Community Gardens. This money will help provide new garden beds for its Midtown, Meador, West Side and East Stanford Community Gardens, as well as shared kitchen items needed for events, including a commercial salad spinner, chairs and step stools. As part of this effort, UScellular associates also volunteered their time to help plant garden beds at the Midtown Community Garden.

“Springfield Community Gardens does so much for our community, so we wanted to fulfill their wish list and help them deliver the much-needed support they provide throughout the Springfield area,” said Travis Toliver, Area Vice President and General Manager of UScellular’s Southwest Region. “Food has the power to connect people, and we believe every family deserves to come together, strengthen ties, and make memories this time of year.”

Springfield Community Gardens works with a network of volunteer community gardens and market farms to grow healthy food, build relationships and generate social capital with each new garden.

“It’s always a great day when we get to see the commitment from the corporate world help better their communities,” said Anna Withers, Farmer and Resource Development Manager for Springfield Community Gardens. “It means so much to our organization to receive the support from UScellular to make doing our work possible.”

This holiday season, UScellular is providing food banks, pantries, and shelters with needed supplies and has a goal to support more than 135 organizations across the country. UScellular retail stores are also collecting donations for local food-focused non-profits. For more information, go to newsroom.uscellular.com/nourishing-connections.
