To show appreciation for the dedicated nurses who share their talents, energy and compassion with the patients, families and communities they serve, WGU Missouri has launched a new scholarship in celebration of National Nurses Week, which runs from May 6 through May 12. The Nurse Appreciation Scholarships are open to current nurses who are interested in advancing their careers by pursuing a CCNE-accredited BSN or MSN degree through the nonprofit, fully online university. Applications can be submitted online at wgu.edu/nurseappreciation now through June 30.
Each Nurse Appreciation Scholarship is valued at up to $4,000 and will be applied at a rate of $1,000 per six-month term, renewable for up to four terms. Recipients will be selected based on academic records, financial need, readiness for online study and current competency, among other considerations.
WGU Missouri’s CCNE-accredited BSN and MSN programs are the perfect fit for the unpredictable and demanding schedules of nurses. In most cases, students complete courses on their schedule, with 24/7 online access to learning materials and the ability to take tests as soon as they master the subject material. This competency-based approach allows students who work consistently and utilize the knowledge and skills they already have to graduate early.
“Nursing is a career centered in caring, and over the past few years, we have seen this sentiment through the hard work and sacrifices of nurses who put themselves on the frontlines every day to protect the health and wellbeing of others,” said Dr. Terrance Hopson, Regional Vice President of WGU Missouri. “As the demand for these essential workers continues to rise, WGU is committed to supporting nurses who are ready to take the next step in their careers by providing them with a flexible pathway to earning a high-quality degree in healthcare quickly, affordably and on their own schedule. We hope this scholarship offering will inspire those in the nursing profession who want to move ahead in their careers to continue their education.”
