ST. LOUIS, MO., May 3, 2012… With Mother’s Day and Graduation just around the corner, Barnes and Noble is teaming up with the Delta Dental Health Theatre to provide individuals with an opportunity to purchase a gift for their loved ones and to give back to their community. On Saturday, May 12, all Barnes and Noble stores in the St. Louis area will be hosting an all-day book fair that makes shopping for a cause fun. A portion of sales made anytime that day in the book stores or their cafés, using voucher number 10735447, will go to the Delta Dental Health Theatre. From May 12 -17, purchases can also be made online at www.bn.com/bookfair, using the same voucher number, to further support the theatre.
At the Barnes and Noble located at 8871 Ladue Rd. in St. Louis, Mo., the book fair will be highlighted by a special event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. that will feature family friendly healthy activities and good reads. Planned activities include arts and crafts, balloon artists and the infamous Youcan Toucan Show at 11 a.m. Whether it is by purchasing a new book or trying specially named desserts in the cafe, each guest has the opportunity to support the Delta Dental Health Theatre by presenting the special voucher number at checkout.
All purchases made using the voucher number count towards the proceeds to be donated back to the theatre, except gift cards and magazine subscriptions.
“Curling up with a great book can be an ideal way for moms to get a much needed break from their busy schedule or some interactive time with the kids, while there are a host of books that would be of benefit for the typical graduate as they transition to the next chapter in their lives,” stated Shannon Woodcock, executive director of the Delta Dental Health Theatre. “With this fair dedicated to not only expanding knowledge through reading, but also promoting good dental hygiene, we can help families to meet those needs and brush up on some healthy habits, while also enhancing our educational programming.”
The Delta Dental Health Theatre is located on Laclede’s Landing at 727 North First Street in the same building as the Old Spaghetti Factory. The theater, which opened its doors in 1977 and underwent a comprehensive renovation in 2011, continues to offer a unique blend of fun, entertainment and education to promote oral health and healthy life choices. Guests enjoy an interactive 45-minute program that inspires children and families to take care of their smiles and to adopt a healthy lifestyle. More than 10,000 children visit the theatre annually, underscoring the important role it plays in educating area youth.

The Delta Dental Health Theatre was originally organized as a program under the Foundation of the Greater St. Louis Dental Society. In 2002, it was incorporated as an independent 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization. Six years ago, Delta Dental of Missouri became a major corporate sponsor supporting the theatre’s mission to improve the overall oral health and healthy habits of children and families.
