ST. LOUIS, MO., May 4, 2012… As the old saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. And, on Saturday, May 19, a variety of treasures will be waiting to be discovered as residents of St. Andrew’s Tower Grove Manor community host their first ever rummage sale. The event, which will be open to public, will be held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the Tower Grove community, located at 2710 S. Grand Blvd. From now through May 11, the public is also invited to drop off their gently used items at Tower Grove Manor for sale at the event. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Financial Assistance Program at Tower Grove Manor.
Items available for sale will include vintage and antique furniture and décor; bedroom sets; living room and dining room furniture; glassware and kitchenware; linens, bedding, drapes, lamps and other home décor; clothing; books; records and electronics. To date, donations for the sale have been made by Tower Grove residents and their families and St. Andrew’s board members and staff. The sale will also include remnants from a recent estate sale, and St. Andrew’s is encouraging area residents who are busy doing their spring cleaning to contribute.
“This sale is a great opportunity for individuals looking for new treasures to add to their collections, as well as for anyone who is working to de-clutter their homes and may have gently used items they’d like to donate to a good cause,” said Ashley Turigliatto, Community Relations Manager for the St. Andrew’s Charitable Foundation.
On the day of the sale, those looking to get a jump start on their shopping can take advantage of $2 early bird admission at 7 a.m. At 8 a.m., the sale will be open to the public, with no admission fee. Those wishing to donate items for the sale can call Tower Grove Manor at 314-773-2800 and make arrangements to drop off items at any time through May 11.
“Our Tower Grove seniors are working hard to put on this event, and they are excited to have the opportunity to raise funds for the Financial Assistance Program at Tower Grove Manor, which is designed to help residents, who have outlived their resources, remain in the place they call home,” added Heather Finkelston, Executive Director of Tower Grove Manor.
Tower Grove Manor is an independent living retirement community part of the St. Andrew’s Resources for Seniors System, a faith-based nonprofit organization. Since 1961, St. Andrew’s has been the place where seniors, their families and caregivers find answers through retirement living options, in-home care, and geriatric care management. Thanks to donations to our Charitable Foundation, we are able to assist seniors at all income levels, helping them find and access the support they need, helping them Worry Less.
